Our Story

Bringing culinary expertise and passion for teaching together

A Journey From Restaurant Kitchens to Your Home

What began in the fast-paced environment of London restaurants evolved into something more meaningful. After years of professional cooking, the desire to share knowledge and demystify culinary techniques led to the creation of star-grouse.

We noticed a gap between intimidating professional cooking shows and the reality of home kitchens. Many people wanted to cook better but felt overwhelmed by complicated recipes and unclear instructions. Our mission became simple: make good cooking accessible without oversimplifying the craft.

The approach we've developed emphasises understanding over memorisation. When you grasp why a technique works, you can adapt it to countless situations. This philosophy guides everything from our private classes to corporate workshops.

Our Teaching Philosophy

Every person learns differently. Some prefer structured step-by-step guidance, while others thrive with creative freedom. We adapt our teaching style to match your needs, ensuring you feel supported without being constrained.

Mistakes in the kitchen aren't failures—they're valuable learning moments. We create an environment where experimentation is encouraged and questions are welcomed at any skill level.

Experience & Expertise

Our background includes training at Le Cordon Bleu, positions in Michelin-starred establishments, and extensive experience in recipe development for food publications. This foundation informs our teaching but doesn't overshadow it—we remember what it's like to be a beginner.

Over the past eight years, we've taught hundreds of students ranging from complete novices to experienced home cooks looking to refine specific skills. Each session reinforces our belief that anyone can cook well with proper guidance and practice.

Quality Over Quantity

We limit class sizes and private session bookings to ensure every student receives the attention they deserve. Rushed teaching benefits no one.

Practical Focus

Theory matters, but hands-on practice cements learning. Our sessions prioritise doing over watching, with guidance available at every step.

Seasonal Awareness

Working with ingredients at their peak teaches you to recognise quality and adjust recipes based on what's available and when.

"The corporate workshop we organised exceeded expectations. The team loved the collaborative element, and we learned techniques we still use months later."
